Types of Dental Implants
Same Day Implants, Single Tooth Implant, & Multiple tooth Implant Marietta and Alpharetta, GA
Several types of dental implant procedures are available depending on how many teeth are missing, the condition of a patient’s jawbone, aesthetic goals, and other factors. We offer All-On-4 dental implants, single tooth implants, and multiple teeth implants at RA Dental Studio. Each of these fills a specific need and is customized for the patient.
What are Same Day Dental Implants?
Same day implants replace a row of teeth that are missing or have been extracted. The arch of replacement teeth is placed over four implant screws in the upper or lower jawbone. The precise angle of each implant adds strength and stability so they can support an entire set of replacement teeth with minimal surgery and fewer implants.
Drs. Akbar and George prefer same day implants for patients who need an entire row of teeth replaced rather than full arch implants. Less invasive surgery is required, it is highly stable, and recovery time is reduced. Same Day implants are successful even for most patients who have been told in the past that dental implants were not an option.
Advantages of Same Day Implants
Same day implants take advantage of advancements in implant placement to support an arch of replacement teeth on just four implants, which reduces recovery time, trauma, and cost for the patient. Getting an entire arch of implants and individual crowns takes longer and involves more trauma to the jawbone than same day implants. It also requires more jawbone mass to support the many individual implants. Among the many advantages of same day dental implants are:
- Total restoration of all missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw
- Fewer or no bone grafts needed
- Custom-designed replacement teeth
- No more worries about slipping dentures
- Patients can eat and drink whatever they like
- Most patients walk out of the office with either temporary or permanent replacement teeth on the day of surgery.
- Reduced chance of complications
- Faster healing
- Same day dental implants maintain and support normal facial structure
- Dental implants prevent bone loss in the jawbone, unlike dentures
- Comfortable chewing due to restored bit force

A single-tooth dental implant is an excellent alternative to a bridge when a tooth is missing. If the adjacent teeth and gums are intact and healthy, an implant can easily be placed without disrupting neighboring teeth. This eliminates the need to shave down the adjacent teeth, a process used when placing a bridge. An implant also allows the replacement tooth to absorb the patient’s full bite force and keeps the jawbone from deteriorating. In some situations, a bone graft may be needed if the jawbone has thinned or the tooth socket is too large. Once the implant is in place, a crown is designed that looks and functions like a natural tooth. This is permanently attached to the implant several weeks after the implant surgery.
Multiple Dental Implants
Patients with more than one missing tooth can have multiple dental implants, particularly if several teeth are missing but not all of them. A single implant is placed in the jawbone to replace the roots of each missing tooth. Individual crowns are attached to the posts, providing replacement teeth that mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. For patients with a fixed bridge, multiple dental implants are a permanent solution with several advantages, including easier cleaning, easier repair, and the ability to floss between the crowns. A bridge does not offer these advantages and has to be replaced every few years due to wear and tear.
